Eversendai Now Has Strong Foothold In UAE

From Adnan Jahaya DUBAI, Dec 23 (Bernama) -- The world's tallest building, Burj Khalifa, is the most outstanding landmark in Dubai and its peak, which stands at 830 metres, can be seen almost from every corner of the city. While many were impressed by the grandeur of the building, which was completed in 2010, not many were aware that a Malaysian company also contributed to the construction of the skyscraper. Eversendai Corporation Berhad (Eversendai), through its subsidiary, Eversendai Engineering LLC, was the company involved in the construction of the steel framework for the 163-storey building, which has now become the main tourist attraction in Dubai, a modern city in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The history and achievements of Eversendai was told by Eversendai Offshore RMC FZE chief executive officer Narish Nathan to the Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) delegation, led by Raja Muda (Crown Prince) of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Putra Faizuddin Jamalullail, who is also UniMAP Chancellor, who visited the company recently. In Malaysia, Eversendai was also involved in the construction of steel framework for the Petronas Twin Tower in Kuala Lumpur. Established in 1982 and operating from Rawang, Selangor, Eversendai, had also ventured into oil and gas industry through its subsidiary, Eversendai Offshore RMC FZE, which had established a strong foothold in the UAE. The company emphasises on the construction of steel framework for oil and gas industry, including for the construction of upper platform, modification and maintenance of rigs. Meanwhile, UniMAP vice-chancellor Prof Dr Kamarudin Hussin told Bernama that the visit to Eversendai had not only exposed the students to the outstanding achievement of the Malaysian company, but also to the company's technology and expertise. He also expressed hope that with the visit, the students, most of whom were members UniMAP Student Representatives Council, would be encouraged to learn and understand how technology could help open more room in business. As UniMAP aims to become one of the world's 500 top universities by 2020, efforts are also being done to foster cooperation, as well as to share experience and expertise, including in research activities, with the world's top 200 universities, he added. -- BERNAMA
