By Syamsiah Sahat KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 25 (Bernama) -- The International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) has mobilised its alumni in 117 countries to ensure smooth running of the World #QuranHour programme scheduled for Sept 11. IIUM Alumni and Global Networking Division deputy director Siti Aisyah Ibrahim said, so far, the majority of the alumni had given positive feedback on the preparations for the programme. She said among the countries in which IIUM alumni had given positive feedback with the exact locations where the programme would be held were India, South Korea, Brunei, Thailand, Indonesia and Maldives. "Among the identified locations are at the University of Maldives in Maldives and at the Central Mosque in South Korea. "Our alumni are also working closely with the relevant quarters in their respective countries to ensure that the programme will run smoothly with worldwide participation as planned," Siti Aisyah, who is also the World #QuranHour programme liaison officer told Bernama here Thursday. On the preparation at the IIUM as the main location for the programme in Malaysia, Siti Aisyah said invitation for participation had been made to all students and local community through social media. However, she said for those who want to participate in the programme at separate locations, they could find all the necessary procedures at the World #QuranHour Facebook page. "They are also required to register their participation at the Facebook page so that we can monitor the impact of the programme," she said. Approximately 6,000 people are expected to flock to the Sultan Ahmad Shah Mosque at the IIUM campus in Gombak, a district in Malaysia's Selangor state, in conjunction with the World #QuranHour, in which the recitation of the Quran will be done simultaneously for an hour worldwide from 9 am on Sept 11 (9 Zulhijjah). The programme is a continuation of the initiative which began with the #AktifkanRumahNgaji programme in 2013 and followed by #MalaysiaNgaji programme on June 29 this year. -- BERNAMA
