Iran nuclear program misused by West to pursue hostile policies

Tehran, IRNA – Iran’s peaceful nuclear program has turned into a pretext in the hands of the United States and its European allies to put forward their hegemony and domination while denying information on the nature of the Iranians’ activities in this respect. Recent comments made by Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi that there is no information on the existence of any military program in Iran proves the West’s hostility towards the nuclear achievements of the Islamic nation. Iran has time and again reiterated that its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes, but the West tried to use the issue as a tool to stand against significant progress in the Islamic Republic. A flashback to the past shows that the Western states’ imposition of sanctions on Iran dates back to around one year after the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979 and it entered a new phase following the opening of a dossier on the Iranian nuclear program in 2002 because the sanctions were imposed by Washington until that time, but since then, certain European capitals kicked off pursuing the same path against Tehran. The Iranian nuclear dossier turned into a serious issue when it was referred from the IAEA to the United Nations Security Council and the 2015 nuclear deal also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) could not untie the knot. The Western power, which has a long history of pursuing hostile policies against the Islamic Republic, has recently ignored the results of its own research and documents because the IAEA director general announced on Monday that there is no information on the existence of any military nuclear program in Iran, but a draft resolution proposed by the United States and the European troika (Britain, France, and Germany) on alleged safeguards issues was approved by the Board of Governors of the IAEA on Thursday. Grossi told 60 Minutes on CBSNEWS on Sunday that “at the current level of production of this enriched uranium, Iran has accumulated already enough material to have more than one device, if they chose to do that. But we don't have any information that would indicate that Iran has a nuclear weapon program at the moment.” Contrary to the statements, the draft resolution by the US and its European allies alleged that nuclear substances were found in three unannounced sites in Iran. Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian said that the position of the IAEA has been misused once more and that the Islamic Republic will adopt reciprocal measures. Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Mohammad Eslami underlined that the organization answered all accusations and if they showed good faith and wanted to continue negotiations, they would not have imposed such a resolution. Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kanaani ruled out the West’s hypocritical stance, warning that the approval of the resolution by the Board of Governors of the IAEA would not help resolve the technical and safeguard issues.
