It is hard to pin hope on Trump, says Russian analyst

Moscow, Nov 23, IRNA – It tends to be difficult, at the present time, to pin any hope on the US president-elect Donald Trump and speculate about his treatment of the Middle East, says an expert in the Russian Institute for Strategic Studies. Undoubtedly, the US business owners and especially arms industry owners are going to do anything in their capacity to keep Trump under their influence and affect his decisions and this is not going to help the Middle East security, Ivan Ippolitov told the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) in an interview on Wednesday. That is why we could hardly pin our hope on Trump and his peace-seeking measures, Ippolitov said. The Russian expert then referred to the destructions caused by wars waged by the United States in the Middle East countries, including Iraq and Syria. The US wars in the region have left dead hundreds of thousands of people and they have caused billions of dollars of damage, he said. The new US president is not expected to take a different route than assumed by his predecessors, he said. 1378/IRNA
