Malaysian Communications Minister Attends Opening Of ITU Telecom World 2016

By Mohd Haikal Mohd Isa BANGKOK, Nov 14 (Bernama) -- Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Minister Dr Salleh Said Keruak attended the official opening of the International Telecom Union (ITU) Telecom World 2016 conference here Monday. Themed "Collaborating in the Digital Economy", the four-day conference and exhibition at the IMPACT Arena in Muangthong Thani here, was opened by Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. Also present at the the opening ceremony were Thai Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha, member of his cabinet and other senior government officials. ITU is an United Nations (UN) specialised agency for information and communications technologies and currently has a membership of 193 countries. The agency, which is headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, also has almost 800 private-sector entities and academic institutions as its members. --BERNAMA
