Malaysian National Day Observed In Nepal

By Yuba Nath Lamsal KATHMANDU, Sept 1 (Bernama) -– The Malaysian Embassy in Nepal observed Malaysia's National Day amidst a special function at its premises Monday. The embassy's charge d' affairs, Fadli Adilah hosted the Malaysian flag to mark the national day, saying Malaysia stood as a proud country in the world after it attained independence from British rule, 58 years ago. "I am happy to mark this day here amidst the presence of Malaysian nationals in Nepal and Nepalese friends, as both Nepal and Malaysia are good friends and well-wishers. "More than 480,000 documented Nepalese people are working in different sectors of Malaysia, which in itself is an example of our good relations," he said. He expressed optimism that relations between Nepal and Malaysia would continue to grow and deepen in future. Malaysia and Nepal established diplomatic relations in 1960, and the Malaysian residential embassy was established in Nepal, only in 2003. Nepal is one of the key source countries for foreign migrant workers for Malaysia whereas Malaysia is the number one destination for Nepalese workers. -- BERNAMA
