Malaysian University Gallery Now Open In Dubai

From Adnan Jahaya DUBAI (United Arab Emirates), Dec 10 (Bernama) -- The Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP or University of Malaysia, Perlis) gallery at the Malaysian Education (EM) Office here is expected to lure students, especially from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), to study at UniMAP. The gallery, which exhibits all its facilities and achievements, opened last week and also exhibits photos, leaflets and a myriad of important information on UniMAP. It will be open for three months. UniMAP Vice-Chancellor, Prof Dr Kamarudin Hussin hoped the opening of the gallery would attract more students from the middle eastern region, specifically UAE, to study at UniMAP, especially engineering. UniMAP, which began in 2002 with 116 pioneer students, has turned out more than 10,000 high skilled graduates who have entered the labour market at multi-nationals, inside and outside the country, and the public sector. Kamarudin said despite its relatively young age, Prime Minister Najib Razak had recognised the university as a five-star engineering university. The UniMAP Gallery, which is placed at the EM special hall, was opened by The Crown Prince of Malaysia's northernmost state of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, as its chancellor, on Friday, and was also attended by several UAE senior officials. Meanwhile, Malaysian Education Regional Director-Middle East and North Africa and Southern Asia, Shushilil Azam Bin Shuib, when met by Bernama regarded UniMAP's move in using the facility at the office as a smart move, especially when it involved an opening ceremony by the Crown Prince. Shushilil Azam said the presence of UAE community leaders, public and private university representatives and student agents at the ceremony clearly showed their interest in Malaysian higher institutions of learning, specifically UniMAP. --BERNAMA
