M'sian Food, Fashion Culture To Be Highlighted By Business Groups In Australia

By Neville D Cruz MELBOURNE, June 20 (Bernama) -- The Australia Malaysia Business Council (AMBC) Victoria and the Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) here, are jointly supporting a project to capture the culture of the Australian, Malaysian and Italian communities through food fibre and fashion. Photographic exhibitions in the three countries will culminate with the planned launch of a digital eBook in Milan in late 2016. This was decided at a recent meeting here attended by ICCI chief executive Luca Bottallo, board members CavDott Silvio Pitruzzello and Maurizio Marcocci, the AMBC Victoria president Joe Perri and project initiator Colin Abbott. Perri told Bernama the cultural project, dubbed, "Melbourne Malaysia Milan", was an ambitious undertaking and with the support and input of the ICCI, he was confident the momentum would build very quickly. "Although the term 'sustainability' is better understood in relation to the environment, it is a different scenario in respect of national cultures. "Culture, traditions and the way of life are in danger of disappearing as the world becomes a global, technological and social media connected village. "We must ensure that our rich diverse cultural tapestry is not lost in this potentially homogenised future," he added. The key objective of the Melbourne Malaysia Milan project is the production of a photographic record that in turn generates greater awareness, understanding, appreciation and acknowledgement of the three distinct cultures. Luca Bottallo said "Food Fibre and Fashion" are key sectors for the three countries and excellent subjects to showcase the respective history, successes and innovation of each nation in these areas. -- BERNAMA
