New IQRAA Building Will Serve As Conducive Learning Environment

By Tengku Faezah Tengku Yusoff and Samihah Mohamed Janum KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 30 (Bernama) -- IQRAA Institute for Learning Arabic launched a new building here Saturday that would serve as a conducive learning environment for its 270 pupils and 13 instructors, the institute's director Saleh Al Zoman said. The institution, under the supervision of the Saudi Arabian Embassy in Malaysia, aimed to promote Arabic languages through a variety of activities and presentations that emphasised on the importance of Arabic language amidst a new pleasant environment, he said at the launch of the new building. He said that IQRAA Institute started with only 12 students in 2012 and one teacher but has now rapidly expanded to 270 pupils with 13 instructors with students coming from Rohingya, Thailand, Nigeria, China, Indonesia, Pakistan, Myanmar and Malaysia. "We aim for more participation of non-native speakers, especially Malaysians from the various age groups," Al Zoman said, adding that the institution's learning concept was made simple in order to make it more interesting to learn Arabic. During the launch, IQRAA Institute also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a few renowned higher education institutions such as King Abdulaziz University (KAU) in Jeddah, Umm al-Qura University in Makkah and Al-Madinah International University (MEDIU). Al Zoman said that the MoU would see cooperation in terms of more expertise and intellects, as well as contribution towards ideas to enhance Arabic teaching. Meanwhile, the institute's instructors have created a new website www.iqraa.com.my for registration and virtual learning as well as dictionary for references. The website also enabled parents to monitor their children's performances and interact with the tutors online. Present at the ceremony were Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Malaysia Fahad Abdullah Al-Rashid (white clothes) and representatives from the embassies of Yemen and the United Arab Emirates in Malaysia.
