Only Resistance, Retaliation, Can End Zionists Crimes In Gaza: Daily

Tehran, July 12, IRNA - ˈKayhan Internationalˈ on Saturday condeming the illegitimate Zionist regimeˈs brutal aggression on the innocent Gazans, stressed that only resistance and retaliation can halt the crimes of the Zionist regime. The English-language paper in its Viewpoint column referred to the ˈofficial lettersˈ written, by some authorities, to UN Chief Ban Ki-moon urging him to intervene and stop Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip. Calling on those officials to ˈwake up and smell the coffeeˈ, the paper recalled that the strategic point has been highlighted by the commanders of Iranˈs armed forces on several occasions, who correctly argue that resistance and retaliation are the only ways to counter the Zionist regime, because ˈbrutality and aggression are among the main characteristics of Israel, not diplomacy or international law.” Indeed, the usurper regime’s brutality and aggression are what we have been witnessing over the past few days against the defenseless people of Gaza. Israelˈs intense bombardment has killed and wounded many civilians, and the international community, particularly the United Nations, has done nothing to stop it. Absolutely nothing!, criticized the daily. With so much impunity, no wonder the criminal regime of Israel now says it is ready for a long-term offensive against Gaza after a surge in Palestinian rocket attacks in retaliation on illegal Israeli settlements and towns. The situation is so intense that Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has appealed for international help. Abbas says he has been in touch with Hamas leaders ˈwho do not want an escalation.” He has also urged the international community, especially the UN Security Council, ˈto take their responsibility to guarantee the international protection of our people.” Sadly enough, the Palestinian president is equally wrong to assume that the Security Council, the very same body that illegally created the so-called ˈState of Israel”, will feel sorry for the long-suffering people of Palestine or do something about it. Again, experience tells us that the self-elected body, which has legal and humane obligations to stop Israeli atrocities, will not and cannot intervene. That’s because some members of the Security Council, such as the United States, France and Germany, have already voiced their full support for the Zionist regime’s actions! Under the circumstances, and unlike what Western media outlets would like to suggest, the resistance movements are not broke, isolated or weak. They only did try to give peace a chance and it didn’t work. Now they have once again realized that keeping up their homemade rocket fire is the only way ahead in dealing with Israel, which, by the way, began the new conflict. As usual, Western media outlets are straining to paint Israel as the victim, defending the illegal settlers against Palestinian rocket fire. There is no equating the killing and maiming of innocent Palestinians with scared Israelis seeking shelter from Palestinian rockets. But that hasn’t stopped Western media outlets from trying, and in some cases, outright lying, to distort the violence. In sum, it is evident that the renewed fighting will once again rally local and international support behind Palestinians and Hamas. It will inflict further damage to Israel’s reputation which has plummeted because of its refusal to stop building illegal settlements on occupied territories. It is also evident that it is Israel and not Hamas that is being backed into a corner, as Palestinian rocket barrages send Israelis racing for bomb shelters, with radio stations constantly interrupting broadcasts to announce where sirens have sounded, the paper concluded.
