President of Kazakhstan attends judges’ congress
Astana, November 19, 2009 (Khabar) - The head of state has set a number of priority tasks for the national system of public justice. Nursultan Nazarbayev addressed a congress of judges of Kazakhstan and noted that the state has done a lot to supply the judiciary with independence and a decent life. People have a right to demand from judicial power protection of the law and justice.

- Fair and incorruptible trials are the core basis for a democratic and law-abiding state. The fifth issue lies in the degree and quality of execution of judgment. The sixth one lies in the issues of the legislation’s state.
Nursultan Nazarbayev has already approved the concept of the legal policy of Kazakhstan designed for the next 10 years where special attention is focused on the modernization of the public justice system. At the congress, the president explained which tasks were to be fulfilled by the judicial power. The head of state announced that it is necessary to raise the insistence of high standards for judges, such as the skill level as well as their moral character.
Onalsyn Zhumabekov, chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council of RK:

In particular, I draw attention to the need to increase the requirements for judges, increasing the requirements for the selection of candidates, judges among candidates.
