President of Kazakhstan received high-ranking officials
Astana, 25 February 2009, Khabar – The head of state has held a number of working meetings in his capital residence, the Ak Orda. In particular, the Senate Speaker, Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev was also received by the president to inform him about the results of his business trip to Vienna. There, he took part in a sitting of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly as part of which the Kazakhstan Senate Speaker introduced the Republic’s new state programme called “A way to Europe”.
Nursultan Nazarbayev also played host to a group of senators. Together with the President they discussed the most topical tasks set for the lawmaking power and the whole country. The President highlighted that today it is necessary to introduce new generation laws reflecting the current situation in the Republic and beyond. The Senators, in turn, told the President about the plan of Parliament’s lawmaking activity, their trips around the regions and the typical problems the population has there.

- My colleagues have spoken about regional self-governing, support of small and medium-sized businesses and much attention ahs been paid to anti-crisis program. Besides, we have spoken about founding of new state body that would protect interests of small and medium-sized businesses.
