Rouhani’s Attitude, A Lesson For Radicals: Iran Daily

Tehran, Aug 24, IRNA - Following the impeachment of Reza Faraji-Dana, which led to his dismissal as minister of science, research and technology, President Hassan Rouhani said that no one should be angered, urging all to practice democracy and be law-abiding, wrote Sundayˈs edition of ˈIran Dailyˈ. He highlighted the point that Majlis has the right to impeach ministers and this right should be respected, added the English-language paper in its Opinion column. Rouhani sent a clear message to everyone and that was to abide by the law. All politicians and officials, including the heads of the three branches of government, should act within the framework of law if they care about the country’s development, it noted. Rouhani’s reaction to the dismissal of his minister is admirable and helps promote national unity and prevent infighting, praised the daily. Everyone can remember that, every now and then, former president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad rebuked Majlis for its stances on the government’s performance, recalled the paper, noting that people should now compare Ahmadinejad’s behavior toward parliament with that of Rouhani, for it will teach them some valuable lessons. This comparison will reveal what will arise by respecting or violating the law and what problems will be created for the country and people, especially the vulnerable, if the nation is dragged into a political chaos, highlighted the daily. The previous government’s obstinacy set off many squabbles in the political arena, all of which could be have been resolved easily by respecting the law, the paper noted. President Rouhani’s recent remarks after the impeachment of Faraji-Dana had a great lesson for everyone, especially those radical MPs who brought down the minister. Rouhani’s action proved that respecting the law is key to serve the nation otherwise people will face grave problems, praised the daily in conclusion./end
