Teenager Sad Over Losing Mother In Sulawesi Earthquake

KOTA PALU (Indonesia) Oct 6 (Bernama) – "I cried when I heard the sermon being read out, because I remembered my mother who died in the disaster,” Erinto Kahdumah said, tears welling in his eyes. Just 13-years-old, Erinto lost his mother in the earthquake-tsunami tragedy which hit Central Sulawesi last Friday. Erinto, who was the only child of his mother Kasidah Ahmed, 46, living in their home in Patebo, saw with his own eyes how the disaster destroyed his hometown. Reliving the events to Bernama after the Friday prayers at Masjid Darul Naim in Palu Selatan near here, Erinto said his mother’s remains were later found by the search-and-rescue team under the ruins of what was once their kitchen. He will never enjoy the luxury of his mother feeding him during meals, he said. "Every day, before I go to school, my mother would feed me with her hands as she did not want me to dirty my uniform if I ate myself,” he said. “After this, who else will love me? Who will feed me?” he said, holding back his tears. More than 1,500 people were reported to have been killed in the tragedy, and the figure is expected to rise further. -- BERNAMA
