Is There A Way To Slow Down Aging?
By Hazlinda Hamzah
KUALA LUMPUR, June 11 (Bernama) -- There are many supplements available on
the market to maintain good health and youthful looks.
"So staying young and healthy now is just a pill away," Ayu Roslan, Chief
Executive Officer of Rich Beauty Sdn. Bhd, told Bernama recently.
The company is set to introduce a food supplement, based on a formulation
jointly developed by researchers within the country and abroad, which helps keep
aging in check.
THE AGING PROCESS
Aging is a physiological process that goes beyond our skin. In fact it
begins right at the cellular level.
With advancing age, regression sets into the body's physical and
physiological aspects – thus we feel and look old.
While the aging process is not reversible, there is an age-old belief that
good looks and youthfulness could be preserved in a number of ways, including
through special diets and supplements.
GETTING THE RIGHT DIET
Ayu noted that the general perception of a balanced diet might not be valid
anymore, due to the hectic and stressful lifestyle, not to mention the polluted
air that humankind breathes in today.
The shortcomings in the diet contributes directly or indirectly to the aging
process.
For example, a diet low in antioxidants and lacking in vitamin A, E and C
heightens the risk of chronic diseases, including diabetes, and hypertension, as
well as other diseases relating to the heart and kidneys.
Vitamin E in particular is important in slowing down the aging process.
Tocotrienol, which is found in palm oil extracts and has antioxidant properties,
is said to be 60 times more effective in repairing age-related damages.
SUPER-E AND AYU'S PRODUCTS
Tocotrienol, if consumed regularly, contributes to the well-being of the
brain cells and good blood circulation. It also helps prevent cancer and reduce
blood cholesterol.
Tocotrienol makes up 70 per cent of pure palm oil extract, the remaining 30
per cent being tocopherol; another compound of vitamin E.
Ayu noted that tocotrienol, apart from helping keep the body healthy and
disease-free, also reduces the impact of aging.
Ayu, said her company's latest product, "Longevite", to be launced on June
12, is a supplement packed with Gold E Tocotrienol and other vitamins, as well
as three amino acids - cysteine, glutamic and glycine.
The product is aimed at men and women who are conscious of their youthful
appearance and general health.
