Two-Day Conference On Smart Cities In Kuala Lumpur, Beginning Sept 29

Santhiran NEW DELHI, July 27 (Bernama) -- Nearly 1,000 town planners, technology solution providers and developers of Smart Cities from the Asian region are expected to attend the two-day India International Conference and Exhibition in Kuala Lumpur, beginning Sept 29. Global I Smartcites Sdn Bhd managing director Francis Rajah, organiser of the inaugural conference said it would provide a platform to all stakeholders to exchange experiences in the promotion and development of future smart cities. "Our aim is to bring together all those people directly and indirectly involved in these smart city projects under one roof to discuss the future direction and latest development on the cutting-edge technologies which can be implemented in these projects," he explained. He said experts involved in the smart city projects like Masdar City, Abu Dhabi of United Arab Emirates and Toyota City, Japan would share with participants on the challenges they faced in developing the cities. "Speakers from Songdo City, South Korea also agreed to attend the exhibition for which we are expecting participants, not only from Malaysia but also the ASEAN region," said Rajah after meeting India's Minister for Urban Development, Venkaiah Naidu here in New Delhi. The minister is expected to deliver a keynote address on India's urbanisation programme. Rajah said Global I Smartcities Sdn Bhd was a comprehensive five-year plan in promoting smart city projects, not only in Malaysia, but in Indonesia and India, as well. "We are planing to engage more with entrepreneurs here, following (India's) Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent announcement on the 100 smart city projects which will be developed all over India," he pointed out. For key players of the smart cities, Rajah recommended the conference-cum- exibition which would be held at the Sunway International Convention, Sunway Hotel Resort for green technology officials, smart transport system operators, IT specialists and security specialists. --BERNAMA
