US will be responsible for possible nuclear talks failure

Tehran, Nov 1, IRNA - 'Iran Daily' on Saturday noted that all recent reports by Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency Yukiya Amano prove that Iran has met all its commitments under the Geneva deal and no one can blame the country for anything. Thus, if nuclear talks fail, the US would be held responsible, underscored the English-language daily in its Opinion column. There has been remarkable progress in nuclear talks between Iran and the P5+1 and both sides have identified key disagreements and put forward proposals to resolve them. A wide divergence of views between Iran and the US originated from the text of last year’s Geneva deal. The document states that an agreement should be made on all issues and nothing should remain unresolved. The number of disagreements is limited and since they are key issues, they can bring the entire process under question if they remain unsettled. Iran has demonstrated enough flexibility and has fulfilled all commitments in order to make a comprehensive deal possible. However, the real problem is the US and the P5+1 who refuse to show flexibility. They should first overcome this obstacle or else all achievements of nuclear negotiations will go in vain and the West will be the ultimate loser. Right now, the ball is in the US court. Iran has taken enough confidence-building steps by providing more access to its nuclear facilities and agreeing to more limitations. All concerns must have been eased and new allegations are nothing but excessive demands to mount pressure on Iran. Iran has already said it will adjust its nuclear activities based on its needs and not on America’s demands. The West should back off if it really seeks a final deal by the November 24 deadline. Nuclear talks can be extended but cannot be continued forever since they would be illogical and pointless. US Under-Secretary of State Wendy Sherman has recently said that Iran would be responsible for any failure to reach a permanent accord over its civilian nuclear work. Such remarks are unjustifiable and seemingly meant to convince the US public opinion. Moreover they only sabotage nuclear talks./end
