‘No problems’ in Russian-Turkish military-technical cooperation - federal agency

ISTANBUL, May 5. /TASS/. Russia and Turkey have no problems in the sphere of military and technical cooperation despite Turkey’s membership in NATO, the deputy head of Russia’s federal agency for military and technical cooperation said on Tuesday. "No, there are no any problems," said Konstantin Biryulin who heads delegation of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSVTS) at the 12th International Defense Industry Fair (IDEF-2015), Turkey, Istanbul, that opened on Tuesday. The head of the delegation representing Russia’s arms exporter Rosoboronexport, Anatoly Antonov, also said Turkey’s membership in the North Atlantic Alliance has not prevented Ankara from buying Russia’s weapons. "I’ll tell you more: Turkey is one of the oldest members of the alliance [from 1952]. But this has not become an obstacle for supplies to Ankara of such weapons as BTR-80, fire-fighting vessels, tug boats, Mi-17 helicopters, Kornet anti-tank guided missiles (ATGM) and a great number of various small arms," Antonov stressed. At the IDEF-2015, to be held on May 5- 8, 2015, in Istanbul, Russia will be in particular represented by the Caesar Kunikov (BDK-64), a Project 775 (NATO reporting name: Ropucha-I) class large landing ship of the Russian Navy.
