“Aa-Seid Kazem” to go on stage in September

TEHRAN,July 29(MNA) – Iranian director Mahmudreza Rahimi plans to stage the outstanding play “Aa-Seid Kazem” by the late playwright Mahmud Ostad-Mohammad in a Tehran theater in September. “The plan was formulated two month ago when my university classmates in the 73s troupe proposed that I direct the play with the troupe,” Rahimi told the Persian service of MNA on Sunday. “I accepted the proposal and shortly afterwards rehearsals began,” he added. Ostad-Mohammad wrote “Aa-Seid Kazem” based on a real-life story about Aa-Seid Kazem, a man who was accused of murder and isolated from society. Rahimi said that the play is due to go on stage in September. However, the theater has not been specified yet. Mojtaba Tabatabaii, Mehrdad Niknam, Alireza Ostadi, Majid Helmi and Saedi Dowlati are among the actors in the play. Ostad-Mohammad died after a three-year battle with liver cancer at Tehran’s Jam Hospital last week. He was aged 63. “Aa-Seid Kazem” was highly acclaimed by critics and his colleagues, and was staged by various directors, one whom was Mohammad Rahmanian who helmed a reading performance of it at the Iranian Artists Forum in February 2012.
