“Hours of great constructions” meeting held

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Prime Minister N.Altankhuyag asked the Ministry of Construction and Urban Development why cement prices have gone up. This talk took place at the "Hours of great construction" weekly meeting on Monday. About declining these prices "we were talking at previous meeting but it has not been done yet," the PM noted. In reply, the Ministry and the private sector representation mentioned that, with aim to stabilize prices of construction materials, some 127 billion MNT loans were given to 27 entities-the members of the Association of Cement Importers (ACI). It meant that they were obliged to sell the cement less than 165 thousand MNT per ton but today they give it at 185 thousand "due to rising demand and a soar of the Chinese Yuan," they explained. Mr Altankhuyag severely criticized them for this state of affairs, noting that this price soar has taken place in times of ending the construction season. The contractual entities have two-week reserves which is not enough, the loans from the budget to these entities were given to augment a circulation of the construction materials as an expectation of the cement demand, so these entities do not have any rights to defend themselves, the Premier stressed. Then the Ministry of Energy reported that a thermal power station with capability of 13 MWT was put into use last week in Sukhbaatar province, other new power station will start to work in Uvs, Khovd and Khovsgol aimag this year. A paved road between Dundgobi and the city is expected to open by this November, a construction of roads from the city to Dornod and Khovsgol are running with 55-60%, the Ministry of Road and Transportation reported. Authorities of the city said they decided to run a redevelopment at eight places, adding them to 12 points at ger (national dwelling) areas, all details will discussed at the cabinet meeting.
