“Last Step” praised at Indian filmfest

TEHRAN,Jan.20(MNA) -- The acclaimed Iranian film “The Last Step” received a special mention at the 11th Pune International Film Festival in India. Director/screenwriter Ali Mosaffa received the honor for the screenplay of the film at the World Cinema Competition section of the festival, which was held from January 10 to 17. “The Last Step” is about Leila, a movie superstar who is mourning over the loss of her husband. On the set of her film, she suddenly finds herself totally powerless to control her laughter before the camera and no one could ever guess the reason behind the hysteria that began at the scene of her husband’s death. The Indian movie “Kaksparsh” by Mahesh Manjrekar was selected as the best film of the festival and won the Sant Tukaram Best Marathi Film Award. The Best International Film Award of the festival went to the German drama “Barbara” by Christian Petzold. “The Last Step” and “Today” by Alain Gomis from Senegal shared the special jury prize of the 17th International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) in December 2012. This film won the Love and Psyche Prize at the MedFilm Festival in Rome in October 2012. The film’s star, Leila Hatami, won the Best Actress Award for her portrayal of Leila at the 47th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in the Czech Republic in July 2012.
