“PEACE STUDIES IN XXI CENTURY AND MONGOLIA” CONFERENCE APPROACHES

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ A scientific conference themed “Peace Studies in XXI century and Mongolia” will take place October 24-25 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Economic Cooperation. Co-organized by Mongolian National Commission of UNESCO, the School of International Relations and Public Administration of Mongolian State University and the Ministry, the conference has a high importance as it is the first scientific conference to be held in Mongolia on matters of peace studies, and is being held in a scope of the 70th anniversary of UNESCO and the World Science Day for Peace and Development. Peace studies are rapidly developing arena of international studies. Although a large-scale war is prevented in the modern globalized international spheres, the crisis and conflicts zones still remain. In such situations, the peace studies serve well in preventing and managing crises. Present at the conference will be scholars from Mongolian National Commission of UNESCO, as well as from Japan, the USA, Canada, South Korea and China, to discuss in topics: roles of the UN and other international organizations in peace studies and international peace-keeping actions; roles and participation of international NGOs in developing peace studies in North-East Asia, and development and current state of Mongolian peace studies.
