10 Pairs Of Candidates Start Campaigning For Election

Padang, W Sumatra, Oct 17 (Antara) - Ten pairs of contestants have already begun campaigning from October 16 to October 26 ahead of the municipal elections in the West Sumatra provincial capital, Padang, on October 30, 2013. According to Chief of the Election Supervisory Committee (Panwaslu) Nurlina, here on Wednesday, a total of 300 members of the Panwaslu have been fielded to monitor the municipal elections. The Panwaslu members will conduct their role in the given timeframe allocated by the General Election Commission (KPU), she said. In addition, Panwaslu members will also pay heed to all statements made by the municipal hopefuls either at closed-door meetings or in public campaigns. "No one is allowed to offend other candidates, including inciting or denigrating them," Nurlina stated. The ten pairs of candidates are Emma Yohanna-Wahyu Iramana Putra (serial number 1), Mohammad Ichlas El Qudsi-Januardi Sumka (2), Desri Ayunda-James Helyward (3), Asnawi Bahar-Surya Budhi (4), Ibrahim-Nardi Gusman (5), Kandris Asrin-Hendra Dwipa (6), Maigus Nasir-Armalis (7), Indra Jaya-Yefri Hendri Dharmi (8), Syamsuar Syam-Mawardi Nur (9) and Mahyeldi Ansarullah-Emzalmi (10). Meanwhile, the city`s General Election Commission confirmed that 560,732 people are expected to cast their votes on Oct. 30.
