10th Thailand, Cambodia JC ends

BANGKOK, August 26 (TNA) - The 10th Thailand, Cambodia Joint Commission (JC) Meeting, held in Bangkok during August 25-26, has ended with an agreement on promoting bilateral cooperation in all dimensions and the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on the setting up of a rehabilitation center for human trafficking victims. Thai Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai told a joint press conference in the capital on Friday with his Cambodia counterpart Prak Sokhon, after the end of the two-day meeting, that the 10th Thailand-Cambodia JC Meeting was aimed to boost stability and security of the two neighboring countries in the region. Don said the two sides agreed on further developing bilateral cooperation on border security, education and the publicizing of the Sufficiency Economy Principle, advised by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, for sustainable development. Besides, Cambodia and Thailand agreed to increase bilateral trade to 15 billion baht by 2020, or three times of the current value of two-way trade, while also enhancing cross-border connectivity through the development of border checkpoints, the conclusion of agreements on maritime transport and railway links, covering the construction of an additional six-kilometer railway section, connecting Bangkok with Phnom Penh in the future. The Cambodian foreign minister told the joint press conference he was pleased that Bangkok and Phnom Penh had mapped out an action plan to promote and materialize bilateral cooperation. The Cambodian foreign minister noted that he has followed up positively political development in Thailand and praised the Thai Kingdom's key role in creating security in the region. (TNA)
