11 active participants of Ganja unrest detained, one killed

Baku, July 13, AZERTAC Two police officers were killed after being hit by blunt instruments and cutting and stubbing weapons by a group of radical religious persons who attempted to brutally disturb public order in the city of Ganja on July 10. In a joint statement, the Office of the Prosecutor General, Ministry of Internal Affairs and State Security Service said that as a result of the intensive investigative measures and search operations under the personal control of the head of state, Rashad Boyukkishiyev, who was suspected of murdering a police officer in Ganja, was killed in the early hours of July 13 while putting up an armed resistance to law-enforcement officers. The statement also said that Samir Ibrahimov, one of the first attackers on police officers during Ganja unrest, was also located and detained. The statement said a total of 11 active participants of the crime in Ganja were detained, while one of them was killed. The necessary investigative and search operations continue in order to identify and bring to justice all the participants of the crime, the statement said.
