11.35 Tons Of Drugs Confiscated In Southeast Iran

Zahedan, Sistan-Baluchestan Prov., Dec 9, IRNA – Border Police Commander in southeastern Sistan-Baluchestan Province Gholam-Nabi Kouhkan said on Saturday that 11.35 tons of drugs were confiscated on the zero border point southeast of the country in an overnight operation. Kouhkan told reporters that the confiscation had been the result of two weeks of chase-and-hunt operation. He said such a big drug haul is unprecedented in its kind in the province in the years after the 1979 Islamic Revolution. He noted that traffickers had smuggled the drugs into the country via zero border point with Pakistan, intending to transfer them to provinces of Fars and Kerman by camels. He noted that one of the drug bandits were killed and a number of them injured in the course of the operation./end
