115 Security Officers Guard Election Recapitulation

Biak, Papua, July 16 (Antara) - At least 115 security officers comprising 85 police officers and 30 Indonesian Military soldiers secured the presidential election recapitulation held by the General Elections Commission in Biak Numfor District, Papua Province, on Wednesday. "The security officers hoped that the presidential election recapitulation held by the commission will run smoothly," Operation Chief of Biak Resort Police Commissioner Safei AB stated here on Wednesday. Safei added that hundreds of military and police personnel were deployed at the election recapitulation site located in Arumbay Hotel, Biak. The recapitulation process was attended by several officials such as Chief of Papuan Public Security Musa Isir, Commander of 1708 Military Regional Command Lieutenant Colonel Ruddy Trenggono, and Chief of Biak Resort Police Senior Commissioner Adjunct Esterlina Sroyer. The recapitulation process ran smoothly, and the situation is conducive. According to Antara, the situation after seven days of the election in Biak is normal and conducive. According to the commission, at least 190,307,134 eligible voters have been registered for the presidential election on July 9, 2014, with 486,866 polling stations set up across Indonesia. The current election is being contested by two pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates: Prabowo Subianto-Hatta Rajasa and Joko Widodo-Jusuf Kalla.
