120 Journalists From 28 Countries For Squid Jigging In Malaysia's Terengganu

KUALA TERENGGANU (Terengganu, Malaysia), May 27 (Bernama) -- A total of 120 journalists from the print and electronic media in 28 countries have confirmed their participation in the Terengganu International Squid Jigging Carnival scheduled for June 2 to 7. State Tourism and Culture Committee chairman Mohd Jidin Shafee said on Wednesday the participants included journalists from Australia, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, the Philippines, Russia, Spain and Turkey. "Bloggers are also among these journalists," he told reporters here. Mohd Jidin said that besides squid jigging, the journalists would also be exposed to local tourism products in the districts of Kuala Terengganu, Kuala Nerus, Setiu and Hulu Terengganu. "The journalists will engage in programmes such as looking for clams, visiting the Cultural City in Setiu and the Peranakan Festival and going to the Lake Kenyir Water Theme Park and Elephant Conservation Centre in Hulu Terengganu. "They will also be exposed to the various traditional games, the traditional foods of the people of Terengganu and tourist attractions such as Pasar Payang, Monument Park at the Islamic Civilisation Park and the State Museum," he told reporters here. Last year, 195 journalists from 21 countries participated in the 2014 Terengganu International Squid Jigging Carnival. State of Terengganu is located in east coast of peninsular Malaysia. --BERNAMA
