14 Indonesian MPR Members Call On PM Najib

KUALA LUMPUR, May 25 (Bernama) -- Fourteen members of the Indonesian People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) on Tuesday called on Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak at Parliament House. The delegation, which was headed by MPR chief Dr Zulkifli Hasan, aimed to, among others, firm up diplomatic ties between the two countries. The members also discussed economic and social cooperation during the 45-minute meeting. Also present was Malaysian Ambassador to Indonesia Zahrain Mohamed Hashim. The MPR members are on a three-day familiarisation tour of Malaysia from Tuesday, organised by the Malaysian Foreign Ministry. They are also scheduled to call on Deputy Prime Minister Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and meet with Malaysian-Indonesian People's Alliance Foundation (YIRMI) chairman Dr Rais Yatim. Indonesia is Malaysia's seventh largest trading partner and the third biggest among the ASEAN nations. Bilateral trade last year reached US$14.62 billion (RM60.16 billion). --BERNAMA
