163,000 Kg Of Aid For Flood Victims Transported By RMAF So Far

PETALING JAYA (Selangor, Malaysia), Dec 30 (Bernama) -- The Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) has transported about 163,000 kilograms of aid, which include food supply, other basic needs and medicines to states hit by the floods since Dec 25. The goods were transported using the C-130 Hercules. Flood disaster relief coordinator at the RMAF base in Subang, Capt. Azley Ahmad said RMAF made almost 10 return trips daily to distribute the aid to flood victims. About 10 to 11 tonnes of goods are carried on each flight, he said when contacted by Bernama Monday. He said nearly 70 percent of the aid were sent to the 8th Infantry Brigade in Pengkalan Chepa and the remainder to the Gong Kedak Air Base in Terengganu. Azley said eventhough they were short of staff in managing the goods, RMAF had enlisted the help of various non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and trainees under the National Service Training Programme. -- BERNAMA
