17 Police Officers Involved In Drug Cases In Riau

Pekanbaru, Riau, Dec 7 (ANTARA) - The Riau office of the National Anti Drug Agency (BNN) said it has found police officers involved in 17 drug cases in Riau Province in the past two years. "The cases have been handed over to the police and prosecution office," Head of the Riau office of BNN Senior Commissioner Bambang Setiawan said here on Thursday. Bambang said BNN also coordinated with the regional law and human right office to create cadres of penitentiary officers. He said in 2011 and 2012, there were 590 drug cases in the province of Riau with 840 suspects including traders and or couriers. Among the suspects were police officers in 17 cases, and civil servants in 11 cases, he said, adding no member of the military had been found involved in drug cases in Riau. BNN is conducting urine test of all civil servants, school and university students in Riau .
