18th Gulf Engineering Forum Wraps Up, Issues Closing Recommendations

Doha, March 04 (QNA) -The 18th Gulf Engineering Forum co-organized by the Qatar Society of Engineers (QSE) and the Public Works Authority Ashghal and hosted by Doha from the 1st until the 3rd of March 2015 under the theme (Main Infrastructure Projects in the GCC Countries) concluded its works today. A series of closing recommendations were also announced, covering all the engineering, administrative, and design aspects of projects; namely: The importance of implementing the best practices in engineering project management, applying concepts and green specifications in infrastructure projects, the need to benefit from global expertise in the training and qualification the Gulf engineering human resources, utilizing the best and latest means of transportation, the attention to design and implementation, and ensuring their compliance with the requirements and needs of people with special needs, as well as the attention to maintenance and operation phases. On the final and third day of the forum, participants discussed a number of work papers, including the general principles behind the success of projects, the quality assurance, and the role of green infrastructure in urban areas. In its 18th edition, the forum witnessed the presence of many high level figures in the GCC counties, as well as decision makers and officials in both the public and private sectors companies, along with senior Gulf Engineers, and other attendees interested in this vital field. The forum witnessed the participation of many bodies and advisory bureaus, construction companies, and various engineering companies. The main topics of this year’s forum focused on a number of themes, namely: transportation, green specifications of green infrastructure, and the provision of raw materials for engineering projects. The forum also touched on other topics such as providing human resources for engineering projects, and the best practices in project management. The forum highlighted the main infrastructure projects in the GCC countries, reviewing the achievements of those countries in this field over the past years, in addition to presenting the future plans that they seek to implement in order to develop their infrastructure. In its 18th edition, the forum emphasized the challenges and obstacles faced by infrastructure projects and provided the opportunity for the presentation of proposals, ideas, and visions that would contribute to the creation of constructive solutions to help develop this sector.(QNA)
