2 drug suspects arrested with illicit drug worth 17 millon baht

CHIANG RAI, August 22 (TNA)-- Combined government forces in the northernmost province of Chiang Rai have arrested two drug trafficking suspects and seized more than 500,000 methamphetamine pills and crystal methamphetamine or "ice" weighing three kilogrammes valued more than 17 million baht, police said. Senior government officers in the province told a press conference on Saturday that they had arrested two men and seized 506,000 meth tablets, three kilogrammes of "ice", a pickup truck used in loading the seized drug, contained in two large rucksacks. They said the two suspects confessed during an interrogation that they travelled from Tak province and were promised to pay about 1.3 million baht to bring the drug from Chiang Rai and handed to an unanimous person in the central province of Ang Thong. Police said the seized narcotics are connected to drug kingpin Lt Col Yi Say’s drug trafficking syndicate who operates along the Thai-Myanmar border. (TNA)
