20-Strong Malaysian Team To 'The Asean Colloquium' In Thailand

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 13 (Bernama) -- Twenty Malaysian delegates will be participating in 'The ASEAN Colloquium' (TAC) in Bangkok, Thailand from Feb 18 to 21. The inaugural conference organised by the Global Leadership Institute (GLI) serves as a platform for cooperation between young leaders from 12 countries including Brunei, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, Philippines, India and Pakistan. GLI (Malaysia) director cum TAC programme ambassador, Nive Yong Chuan Ling said the participants of TAC comprised politicians, young entrepreneurs and student representatives with leadership qualities. "In line with the vision of Prime Minister Najib Razak who was the chairman of the ASEAN Summit last year, it is hoped all delegates will progress to the international level through exposure at ASEAN level," she told a media conference here Friday. She said the discussions would be centred on action plans as well as resolutions for the development of the ASEAN community. She added that six Malaysian participants including herself would be receiving the United Nations' Asia Pacific Headquarters Award at the conference. "Three Malaysian delegates will be taking part in an international competition at the conference for the best presentation to be selected to the United Nations," she said. --BERNAMA
