2012 Nuclear Security Summit wraps up in Seoul

SEOUL, March 27 (TNA) - The 2012 Nuclear Security Summit, in which Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra took part together with other world leaders, wrapped up in Seoul, South Korea's capital, on Tuesday, as the world leaders confirmed their commitment to achieve nuclear materials security over the next four years without affecting individual countries' rights to develop and utilize nuclear power for peaceful purposes and to cooperate on information sharing in nuclear security. At the conclusion of the Seoul Nuclear Security Summit, the second of its kind in the world, the leaders from 53 countries and four international organizations adopted the Seoul Communique, affirming the commitment. Under the conclusive paper, the world leaders have pledged to cooperate on nuclear safety policies in order to prevent nuclear materials from falling into the hands of terrorists and have also agreed to cooperate on information sharing in nuclear security and to meet at the Third Nuclear Security Summit in the Netherlands in 2014. After the conclusion of the summit, Premier Yingluck joined a dinner reception hosted by South Korean President Lee-Myung Bak and the South Korean First Lady Kim Yoon-ok at the Shilla Hotel in Seoul. The Thai prime minister is scheduled to depart from the Incheon International Airport in Seoul on a Thai Airways International (THAI) special flight late Tuesday, at around 11pm local time, and to arrive at Thailand’s main Suvarnabhumi International Airport early Wednesday morning, at around 3am Thailand time.
