"2015 Discover Thainess" campaign introduced on ASEAN stage

BANGKOK, January 28 (TNA) - The state-run Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has introduced its "2015 Discover Thainess" campaign on an tourism stage of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). Pongsatorn Ketsamlee, TAT Deputy Governor for the Asian and Southern Pacific Markets, announced the "2015 Discover Thainess" campaign at a press conference in Nay Pyi Taw on Wednesday on the sidelines of the ASEAN Tourism Forum 2015 (ATF 2015), being held in the Myanmar capital from January 22-29. Under the campaign, Pongsatorn said, traditional Thai cultures and lifestyles will be promoted, as global tourists have turned to focus more on the content of ways of life of people in each tourist destination, which enables them to share their experiences and impressions. Pongsatorn assessed that the campaign should help boost the number of international tourist arrivals in Thailand from 24 million last year to 28 million this year as targeted, earning the Kingdom's tourism-related revenues up to over 1.35 trillion baht. According to the TAT deputy governor, TAT will also launch two ASEAN tourism programmes, including the ASEAN for ASEAN, under which cross-border travels will be promoted among ASEAN tourists, and the ASEAN for All, under which ASEAN member states will join forces in promoting tourist sites in the 10-member bloc to attract European and American tourists to the region. Wednesday's press conference was attended by tourism business operators and journalists from ASEAN member states and other countries. (TNA)
