25th Air Thamal concludes in Thailand

NAKHON RATCHASIMA, THAILAND, June 11 (TNA) - This year's Air Thamal joint exercise between the Malaysian and the Thai air forces, the 25th of its kind, has successfully concluded in Nakhon Ratchasima Province in the Thai Northeast. Visiting Malaysian Air Force Commander General Dato' Sri Haji Roslan Bin Saad and his Thai counterpart Air Chief Marshal Trithot Sonchaeng jointly presided over the closing ceremony of the 25th Air Thamal joint exercise, which began on June 1. The 25th Air Thamal joint exercise was also aimed at enabling air forces of the two neighbouring countries to be able to work together well to cope with natural disasters. A total of 40 personnel from the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) and 90 others from the Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF) participated in the 10-day exercise. The Thai air force chief told journalists that air forces of the two neighbouring countries in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) will further develop joint exercises in the future to enable their personnel to cope with natural disasters efficiently. Several activities were also introduced by the Royal Thai Air Force at the closing ceremony, including a demonstration on combat search and rescue which displayed its potential and efficiency to participate in the future exercise with the RMAF.
