BANGKOK, January 11 (TNA) - The Lancang-Mekong Cooperation (LMC) Leaders' Meeting, the second of its kind, has successfully ended in Phnom Penh, with all member countries agreeing on cooperation for a fair share and sustainable development of resources and production in the sub-region. At the end of the one-day LMC Leaders' Meeting in the Cambodian capital on January 10, Thai Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha joined leaders of other member countries in endorsing the so-called five-year action plan (2018-2022), under which details of joint measures to be implemented among member countries, based on equal benefits, were mentioned, and the Phnom Penh Declaration, under which leaders of the member countries echoed their political will to support and realize the regional cooperation framework for the sake of the further economic and social development of their people. The joint measures to be implemented among all the six member countries, namely China, Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam, include those on the cross-border economic connectivity, the shared utilization of water resources, especially the Mekong River, the further development of production potential and new methods of agriculture, as well as the poverty reduction. At the 2nd LMC Leaders' Meeting, co-hosted by Cambodia and China, the Thai prime minister also delivered a speech in which he stressed on the importance of resorting to innovations by member countries, particularly those in the farm sector, to jointly get through future challenges and turn the sub-region to be a world economic hub. The Thai prime minister pointed out that his government's Thailand 4.0 Policy and the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) Project are in line with the joint stance, saying that Thailand also supports the regional connectivity through China's One Belt One Road Policy.
