30th ASEAN Summit begins in Manila

MANILA, April 29 (TNA) - Government leaders of the 10 Southeast Asian countries on Saturday joined in the opening of the 30th ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) Summit in Manila, the capital of the Philippines. The 30th ASEAN Summit coincides with the 50th anniversary of ASEAN establishment. At the Summit, the government leaders will reflect on improvements for tangible achievements, and determine future directions based on the ASEAN Community Vision 2025. Gen. Prayut and ASEAN government leaders are scheduled to endorse the ASEAN Declaration of the Role of the Civil Service as a Catalyst for Achieving the ASEAN Community Vision 2025 at the end of the Summit. He is also scheduled to hold talks with Indonesian and Malaysian leaders on plan to develop economy of the three countries which also covers special economic zone of Thailand’s southern border provinces. Gen. Prayut, his wife and accompanying senior officials are scheduled to leave Manila for home late Saturday. (TNA)
