3,333 school children read “Independence” poem

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Today, at the central square of Ulaanbaatar, 3,333 students from “Oyunii Undraa” general education school read a famous poem by D.Purevdorj called “Independence”. All students wore traditional Mongolian costume 'Deel', in honor of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of their school. Oyunii Undraa’s director S.Nerguidavaa also handed a Cup to Deputy Head of the Department of Education of the Ulaanbaatar city D.Odonchimeg. The school director had the cup made so that the cup goes to next schools to carry out such event for reading this poem each year. Children stand in shape of Mongolian map “The Independence poem was read in secret during the closed [socialist] times. The poem perfectly describes Mongolians’ aspiration, dreams, culture, tradition and battles for sovereignty and freedom. We talk about big things when we talk about independence. To explain this big concept to children, independence means the ability to remember the true history, to create growth for today and to dream big and positive for the future” said Mr S.Nerguidavaa on the choice of the poem.
