33rd FIFF press conference held in Tehran

TEHRAN, Apr. 20 (MNA) – The Sunday press conference of the international section of 33rd Fajr International Film Festival (FIFF) on Sunday provided further details on the festival. The press conference of the international section of the 33rd Fajr International Film Festival (FIFF) was held on April 19 at Iran Film Museum. Alireza Rezadad, the director of the festival pointed to different sections of the festiva, adding “competitive, non-competitive and review sections are the main parts of the festival. As the festival is held during a week, it is supposed to screen two films in each section.” 11 international films and 3 Iranian films were chosen for Salvation Cinema and Eastern Panorama sections. Today Turkish Cinema in Focus, Contemporary Chinese Cinema in Focus and Francesco Rosi’s Cinema Review are some of the three non-competitive sections of the festival. Jury Members of the 33rd FIFF Announced The jury members of Salvation Cinema section include: Ann Hui from Hong Kong, Pierre-Henri Deleau from France, Rolf de Heer from Australia, Semih Kaplanuglu from Turkey, Igor Lysenko from Russian, Reza Mirkarimi and Niki Karimi from Iran. Maxine Williamson, Gorin Nogruha, Dulat Nazar Khudanazarof, George Ovashvili, Fabio Testi, Negar Javaerian and Manouchehr Mohamadi will judge the films in Eastern Panorama section. Four cinemas in Tehran will screen the movies of 33rd FIFF: Azadi Cinema Complex (two theatres), House of Iranian Artists cinema, and Iran Film Museum. The tickets for these screening will be available from 22 April on the festival website. Iranian Films in 33rd FIFF The 6 Iranian films to be screened in the Salvation Cinema section are Long Farewell directed by Farzad Motamen, 360 Degrees directed by Sam Gharibian and Borderless by AmirHossein Askari. Dowry Cube Box by Ali Molagholipour, What time Is It in Your World? by Safi Yazdanian and Mazarsharif by Abdol Hassan Barzideh will compete in Eastern Panorama section. I am Diego Maradona by Bahram Tavakoli and Confessions of My Dangerous Mind by Houman Seyedi will be screened in Art and Experience Cinema section. Wim Wenders and Jean Jacques Annaud in FIFF Rezadad added that negotiations are under way to screen Wim Wenders’s and Jean Jacques Annaud’s latest films in the festival. He noted 300 films were sent to the secretariat of the festival and the movies were selected based on their subject matters and festival goals. Rezadad added that a number of international film critics are invited to the festival and press conference of each movie will be held in English for the first time in the history of FIFF. An Iranian film critic and an international film critic will be present in each of these 45-minute press conferences. FIFF Film Market The 18th Iran Film Market (IFM) of the 33rd FIFF will be launched on the second day of the festival. Amini said the focus of this year film market is on selling Iranian films and 90 film buyers from 52 countries will attend the film market. He notes that there will be screening box in the market and film buyers can watch the movies there and leave comments for the producers. More than 300 Iranian films are available for film buyers and they can negotiate with the producers in the market. 33rd FIFF’s Workshop and Master Classes Six workshops and master classes will be held during 33rd FIFF. These master classes are about co-productions and its rules, pitching, CGI, directing action sequences, mise-en-scene and working with actors. Some of the notable teachers of these classes are Jan Miller, Krystiv Zanussi, Stanley Tung and Pete Reiv. Majidi’s Muhammad (PBUH) biopic to be screened in FIFF The latest film of acclaimed Iranian director Majid Majidi, Muhammad, Messenger of God, will be screened in the festival for international guests. 33rd Fajr International Film Festival will be held from April 25th to May 2nd 2015 in Tehran. This is the first year that international section of FIFF to be held separately from national section. The 33rd FIFF will be held from April 25 to May 2, 2015 in Tehran. Over 300 films have been submitted to the festival from various countries including Austria, Germany, Switzerland, France, Britain, Ireland, USA, Belgium, Italy, and Turkey.
