37th Caspian Sea Littoral States Meeting Opens

Noshahr, Mazandaran prov, June 11, IRNA – The 37th working group meeting of the Caspian Sea Littoral States aimed at codifying the seaˈs legal regime convention opened in the northern city of Ramsar on Wednesday. The two-day meeting is taking place at the level of special representatives, deputies and foreign ministers of Caspian Sea littoral states. Deputy Foreign Minister for Asia and Pacific Affairs Ebrahim Rahimpour is representing Iran in the meeting. The Caspian Seaˈs legal regime convention is a framework defining the overall conditions of the Caspian Sea, the littoral statesˈ rights and duties. The Caspian Sea is the largest enclosed body of water on earth by area and is variously classed as the worldˈs largest lake or a full-fledged sea. The Caspian Sea littoral states include Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Russia and Turkmenistan. /end
