40 Countries To Participate In S Sumatra's Quran Recital Contest

Palembang, South Sumatra, March 21 (Antara) - Forty countries will participate in the Quran Recital Contest (MTQ) due to be held in South Sumatra in September 2014. The confirmation on the participation of the 40 countries was received during a meeting with the Religious Affairs Ministry in Jakarta, recently, Ahmad Najib of the South Sumatra people`s welfare office, stated here on Friday. The MTQ organizing committee has invited a number of countries including several ASEAN member states, such as Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam, and South Africa. The event will feature the memorization of Quran`s 30th, 20th, and 10th chapters and recital contests. He noted that the province is ready to host the international event as all the supporting facilities for hosting the event are in place.
