As compared to the earlier events, the number of participating teams this time has increased from 40 to 440, Chief of the 27th National Student Scientific Week Bambang Sulistyanto stated on Wednesday. This will be the second time for Undip to host the event since 1998 when the nation witnessed the transition of national leadership from the New Order regime to the Reform Order. Having hosted the 11th National Student Scientific Week, Undip has made adequate preparations for the event, he claimed. "The scientific week is the peak of the competition, which highlights the creativity, ideas, and innovative works of the students. The competition is facilitated by the Directorate General of Higher Education through the student creativity program," he remarked. In total, the event will bring together 2.5 thousand students and 540 lecturers from different state and private institutes of higher learning, he pointed out. The scientific week will feature seven competitions related to student creativity in the fields of research, application of technology, entrepreneurship, civic mission, scientific articles, and written ideas. To hold the event, which will cost an estimated Rp12 billion, the Directorate General of Higher Education had allocated Rp8 billion, while the remaining Rp4 billion will come from partners. "We are teaming up with partners to help (the event)," he added.
