48 Thais arrive home tonight from Yemen

BANGKOK, April 12 (TNA) - A total of 48 Thais are scheduled to arrive home from strife-torn Yemen Sunday night, said Sek Wannamethee, director-general of Thai Foreign Affairs Ministry’s Information Department. The evacuees will arrive at Suvannabhumi International Airport aboard Qatar Airways at about 7.05 p.m., said Mr. Sek. These Thais, many of them students, had stayed in Tarim city in South Yemen and neighbouring towns and decided to return home after the fighting situation in Yemen has become deteriorated. They had travelled by bus to Al-Mazyuna border checkpoint where they were picked up by officials of Thai embassy in Oman’s Muscat. Mr. Sek said they later travelled to Oman’s Salalah city and were provided with accommodation by the Thai embassy. Many Thais have already returned home voluntarily from war-torn Yemen to date.
