4th Green Mekong Forum held in Bangkok

BANGKOK, June 13 (TNA) - The Japanese and Thai Ministries of Foreign Affairs jointly host the 4th Green Mekong Forum in Bangkok to discuss environmental issues and challenges in the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS). Main topics of Monday's forum include “Quality Infrastructure” and “Water Management”, during which participants have an important opportunity to discuss environmental issues and challenges in GMS which are in line with an action plan entitled “A Decade toward the Green Mekong Initiative” under the Mekong-Japan cooperation framework, endorsed at the 1st Mekong Japan Summit in 2009. The Green Mekong Forum is an activity under the Mekong-Japan cooperation framework, aimed at emphasizing the need to guarantee economic development and sustainable growth simultaneously and at discussing common challenges of Japan and countries in the subregion, whose members include Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam and China's Yunnan Province.
