500 Recruits Start of the First Session of the National Service Programme

Doha, April 06 (QNA) - Qatar Armed Forces today celebrated the start of the first course of the National Service Programme for University graduates in the presence of HE the Minister of State for Defence Affairs Major General Hamad bin Ali Al-Attiyah and HE Qatar Armed Forces Chief of Staff Major General Pilot Ghanim bin Shaheen Al-Ghanim. In his speech during the ceremony HE the Minister of State for Defence Affairs said "It is a great honour in this day to open this great national project which our wise leadership, led by HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, gave considerable attention to its application because of its paramount importance." He said " We are very pleased for our success in the implementation of the project, which we have been assigned to study seven years ago and we have made endeavours in order to meet this demand by HH the Emir because it serves the Qatari society and contribute to building the community. We managed to achieve the goal at the beginning of this first session of the national service , and we wish the recruits every success in order to be the nucleus of the future in Qatar. " HE Major General Al-Attiyah confirmed that the system of national service will greatly serve the Qatari society because it will be the nucleus for training young Qataris on a lot of things that are in the interests of the country . The ceremony, which was held at Al Shamal Camp (Hamad Mechanical Battalion), began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, followed by a speech delivered by the commander of the students training centre Brigadier Mohammed Misfer Al Ayyadi who explained that the first batch of national service programme includes 500 recruits from university graduates . Brigadier Mohammed Ayyadi Al Misfir presented a comprehensive idea about the course and its duration and answered the recruits' questions and inquiries . He urged the recruits to take advantage of the course and to show full commitment to military discipline. He also provided guidance related to the course's programme, sport and military training as well as the theoretical lectures it will cover. Brigadier Al Misfir also explained to the recruits the daily work programme, pointing out that training will begin after dawn prayers where recruits will be trained by athletes trainers who also military men.(QNA)
