506th Triplets Born at Pyongyang Maternity Hospital

Pyongyang, July 22 (KCNA) -- The 506th triplets were born at the Pyongyang Maternity Hospital of the DPRK on July 17. In this regard, Pak Song Suk, vice-director of the hospital, told KCNA: The triplets' birthrate of this year is higher as compared with the same period of last year. The births of ten-odd triplets have been witnessed until now. All mothers pregnant with triplets of the country get special treatment at the Pyongyang Maternity Hospital. In the DPRK, women with triplets or more are to receive preferential treatment under such laws as the Public Health Law, the Law on Protection of Women's Rights and the Law on the Nursing and Upbringing of Children. Triplets and quadruplets are supplied with nutritive foodstuffs and clothes free of charge for a given period by the State. Under the state measures, a subsidy is offered to those children until they reach school age and certain medical workers are put in charge of the health of the children and their mothers. Saying that she has keenly felt the benefit of the socialist health system, Ri Yon Hwa, mother of the 500th triplets, expressed the will to bring her babies up well so that they can significantly contribute to the prosperity of the country. -0-
