60 Malaysian Students Off To Turkey To Participate In 2015 International Children Festival

SEPANG (Selangor, Malaysia), April 20 (Bernama) -- Sixty primary and secondary school students will represent Malaysia in the performing arts at the International Children's Festival 2015 in Turkey from April 20 to 26. Students from 40 countries including China, Indonesia and Turkey, will take part in the festival which provides an opportunity for each delegation to show off their originality in the performance of music and dance of their respective countries. Contingent leader, Umi Salbiah Abdul Rahman said the students aged between 10 to 15 years were a talented lot from six selected schools and they would showcase dance and music performances throughout the festival. "For this year's festival, the Malaysian contingent will perform something different with the introduction of the sapelele musical instrument, a combination of the sape and ukulele created by musician Jeffrey Yong" she told the media before flying off to Turkey here, Sunday night. Nurul Nadia Norizham, a student from secondary school of SMK Cheras said she was excited to join the Carnival as this would be her first performance abroad. "I also wish to show off the uniqueness of the sapelele at international level and at the same time promote Malaysian culture and arts there," she said. (photoBERNAMA) --BERNAMA
