6.5 Thousand Rooms Booked For IMF-WB Annual Meeting In Bali

DENPASAR, Bali, April 6 (Antara) - Bali Hotel Association (BHA) reported here on Thursday that some 6.5 thousand hotel rooms have been booked by the delegations of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank (IMF-WB) Annual Meeting 2018, which will be held in Bali from Oct 8 to 14. "In the upcoming days, we still receive an accommodation request from other delegations," the BHA Chairman, Ricky Putra, said, after attending an evaluative meeting of the event in Denpasar, on Thursday. Putra stated that most delegations have completed their hotel bookings in Bali months earlier, as over 15 thousand participants will visit Nusa Dua to attend the meeting in Oct. More than 160 four-to five-star hotels have been registered for the event, and about 85 percent of them are situated in South Bali, the region where the meeting is organized, Putra noted. Meanwhile, the Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) also informed that in South Bali alone, there are 25 five-star hotels that will be offering five thousand rooms for the guests. In Tanjung Benoa, South Bali, there are 23 hotels with 2.5 thousand rooms, while in Pecatu, two thousands rooms are available to be booked by the IMF-WB delegations, Putra remarked. He further added that in Jimbaran and Uluwatu, which are both part of the elite areas in South Bali, 3.5 thousand rooms are available for the foreign and local guests. Ahead of the annual meeting, Putra told hotel operators that some delegations may book hotel rooms in Sanur, Denpasar. He noticed that some participants have booked the rooms for a month. Despite the high demand, the association assured that the room rate will remain normal. On a similar occasion, the head of Bank Indonesia Bali Office, Causa Iman Karana, revealed that the central bank has estimated the revenues that the country would generate before and during the IMF-WB annual meeting. Karana explained that in terms of accommodation, the 15 thousand delegations may spend Rp666 billion for five days in Bali. Besides the lodgings, these participants will spend some Rp36 billion on flights, Rp38 billion for car rentals, Rp146 billion for the meals and entertainment, as well as Rp1 trillion for the event organizers and the vendors.
